Ave Aps - Sky Alto (White)

Ave Aps - Sky Alto (White)

This may not be a brand you've heard of, I certainly haven't, but that shouldn't stop you from giving this toy a go. It feels as premium as other top brands (Lelo, WeVibe etc.), but not with the same price tag. Does that mean it sacrifices everywhere else though? Let's find out!

What Sets Sky Alto Apart From Other Products?

The first thing you'll notice is the design of it. Shaped like a cloud, it grabbed my attention immediately. It's inviting, cute, and not intimidating at all. Which is something I look for in toys. I'm put off by the more extreme options out there, and much prefer the gentle, softer, discreet looking toys.

Everything about this toy says expensive, right down to the packaging. It reminded me of unboxing an Apple product more than a vibrator. The box is thick with a satin finish, the toy is nestled in it's custom fitted package with a pull tab. It was a great sign to start off.

The size of it is also what I'd call average, for a "rabbit" designed toy. There's enough length to stimulate inside, without needing to really go as deep as it can. I tested the toy with the clitoral stimulator on it, but there are also versions of this toy without that, for cheaper.

It's a beautiful toy.

How Does Sky Alto Feel?

The very first thing that surprised me, is it's weight. It looks heavy. And because the box is a thicker stock, it gave me the impression this toy was also going to be weighty. Turns out that's completely wrong and it's only a couple hundred grams. This makes it much easier to use, especially in longer sessions. It's was such a nice surprise and in no way made me think it was going to be cheap.

It's covered in a soft, satin, silicone shell. Feels about the same thickness as what you'd expect from other premium brands.

The shape as you can tell, is phallic, but obviously not realistic. The bumps and curves are something I really like because it gives some extra sensations that a straight dildo doesn't give. But they aren't extreme enough to have to really practice stretching. It's a nice compromise between design and function.

There's 7 vibration modes as well. True to their claim, it's not noisy. The rumbles are overall lower and slower, which is why I think it cuts down on noise. It certainly has power, but it's not the strongest thing out there. The vibrations extend down the length of the shaft, and the clitoral stimulator has a more passive vibe in it. It's not overly stimulating or too targeted like the Rose or Womanizer line of items. It vibes more of the entire area which I found was great for longer sessions. If you're looking for just a 2min quickie, this one probably isn't the best option.

Durability

It does feel well made, and under normal wear and tear I don't see it breaking down. You can feel where the motors are, and if you gave it a good bend it does feel like you could break it. It certainly doesn't feel indestructible. But you're going to have to sacrifice some kind of durability for lightweight and maneuverability. So far it holds up through normal use, but I wouldn't put it through any kind of bend test or something like you'd expect a smartphone to go through.

Water proof! Love to see that. I tested it in the shower, granted not fully submerged in a bath, but it's held up fine. Your results may differ here, as I have no idea how it would hold up in more extreme environments like a hot tub.

Cleaning/Maintenance

Short and sweet, it's easy. Regular cleaning with soap and water gets it right back to it's normal satin finish. The inlays would be the only area that would need some extra care. They're deep enough that gunk or dirt could accumulate in there.

Rating

I'd put this against any "bunny" vibrator out there. Sure, it's not the strongest motors in existence, but it's also nowhere near the most expensive. It's a totally unique design that's executed extremely well, and I feel it's going unnoticed in the sea of available dildos/vibrators. For me at least, this one has a permanent place on the bedside table.

Pros:

  • premium...everything
  • multiple vibe patterns
  • unique design
  • quiet
  • water proof
  • more competitive pricing

Cons:

  • lack of colours. Would LOVE to see these in pastel pink, blue etc.
  • a bit flimsy
  • not the strongest motors out there

Price: 4/5
Value: 4/5
Durability: 3/5
Design: 5/5
